Poetry:
This month we feature sample poems from the magazine's Spring chapbook contest by Ryan Van Cleave, Baruch November, Stan Friedman, Susan Case, Martin Galvin, Richard Levine, Peter Aaron, Anne Blonstein, alongside the winning individual poem by J. Morris, while offering comments on our choices in an Editors' Preface.

Fiction/Short Prose:
Daniel Maguire's deft, humorous "Martin Leahy's Toys" was selected for Special Mention in the magazine's Spring fiction contest. Another Special Mention went to Ben Roberts of Ogden, VT for "Mortifiction of the Flesh."

The conventional praise for Columbus . . . mutes his vow to commit his anticipated fortune to the recovery of the holy sepulcher from the 'infidels' in Jerusalem. In short, Columbus was a religious zealot—and one notable for his fervor even as King Ferdinand directed the Spanish Inquisition from Cordoba.
